At the core of each tooth is pulp, commonly called the nerve. This pulp contains canals that serve an important purpose: they transport blood and nutrients to the tooth root and carry away toxins. A deep cavity, tooth fracture, or other trauma can damage these canals, and infection may occur. Left untreated, you may experience severe pain. You may lose the tooth.

Dr. White treats early-stage infection with a root canal therapy. He’ll clean out the infection in the canals and fill them with a biocompatible substance. The tooth is then sealed by either a filling or a crown. Many patients are so relaxed during root canal therapy that they doze off, only to awaken with a healthy tooth and a renewed smile.
